Recently I decided to switch contact lens brands from my usual Acuvue to the new Biofinity Contacts from Cooper Vision. I had heard good things about them and thought it would be worth a try. Luckily my optometrist had a box in stock and I tried a pair on right there in his office. I was blown away by how much more comfortable they were than my usual contact lenses; enough so that I felt it worth writing a short article about them.
So here’s the low down on the Biofinity lenses. Copper Vision’s website states that the lenses are made from a unique material that allows them to stay moister than regular contacts. This material is dubbed “Aquaform” and is suppose to balance the levels of oxygen and water in your eyes allowing clearer, whiter eyes which are supposedly signs of healthier eyes. The lenses are also supposed to be softer and more flexible which to me means they should be less susceptible to tearing… right?
So far I haven’t had any complaints, other than the price. I was surprised to find that not many online contact lens stores carry this specific type of lens. I was only able to find them at 1800Contacts.com. Fortunately, they are a big name online distributor and offer a lowest price guarantee!
Overall, if you are looking to buy new contacts and you want to try something other than Bausch and Lombs “Purevision” or Cibavision’s Airoptix brands, the Biofinity contact lenses would be a great alternative. As always you should probably ask your eye care professional before you switch to a new brand or type of contact lens.
